Novication Ceremony - Mon State
We passed a novication ceremony in the Mon State. Young Myanmar people are sent off to become novice monks with a grand ceremony. We were lucky to witness a procession.
Bago - old Pegu (29 Dec 08)
The city of Bago is just an hour north of Yangon. This was once the old Mon city of Pegu, capital of a powerful empire that once ruled southern Myanmar and a major international trading port. Today, it is the capital of a division and a busy commercial city. Singaporeans probably remember the old Pegu Road Dental Clinic off Balestier Road. |
