Congo Masks at the Asian Civilisation Museum

I visited the Congo River Exhibition at the Asian Civilisation Museum again, this time to take photos of the mysterious masks and ritualistic objects brought here from the musée du quai Branly of Paris, Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren (Belgium) and the Museum for Volkenkunde in Leiden (Netherlands).  Wonderful stuff that originally came from what is today Gabon, Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo.  They depict the importance of spirituality, youth initiation, ancestor veneration and other traditional values that is imbued in Central African cultures for ages, and currently under threat by globalisation and urbanisation.
