On the road in Northern Mozambique

After leaving Lesotho, we flew to JNB to connect to Maputo, capital of Mozambique.  We stayed one night in this beautiful city of palm tree and Portuguese colonial buildings, and had our first exposure to the fiery spices of Mozambiquean cuisine.  On the next day, we flew to the city of Nampula in the north, where we got onto a taxi for the fabled isle of Isla de Mozambique, a fortress city and station on the old Portuguese voyages of world discovery.  This 2.5hr journey was also a fascinating introduction into the traditional lifestyle and colours of this part of Mozambique.
