Samoa - the heart of Polynesia

Samoa (The Independent State of) is the heart of Polynesia, land of many islands. It was said that Samoa was the legendary birthplace of the Polynesian peoples who then dispersed across the southern and eastern parts of the Pacific Ocean, to islands such as Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand and Easter Island. Today, the western part of Samoa forms the independent country of Samoa. Samoa is also the birthplace of the art of tattoo, as well as the final abode of the great writer, Robert Louis Stevenson (who wrote Treasure Island, Kidnapped and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
