Ilha de Moçambique: The Fortress & the Palace

Can you hear the cries of the slave captured on a raid in the upper reaches of the Zambezi?  Or the laughter of the Portuguese captain about to return to good old Lisboa?  How about the aroma of spices from the Moluccas, after a long voyage via Melaka and Goa?  And the sweet smell of coffee from the highlands of Timor, not to mention the delightful clatter of the Portuguese noblewoman, over the exquisite pottery from Macau?
