By North Pacific, I mean Guam, Northern Marianas, Palau, Marshall Islands and Micronesia. Always thought I don't need visas for all of them. To my horror, I suddenly discovered I needed visa for Marshall Islands as a Singaporean. I emailed their tourist authority and Taipei consulate for help. They said anyone not on their visa exemption list would have to write to their Department of Immigration. I wrote, no reply yet so far. Ok, ok – if they are not keen on tourism – why should they – they live happily on US subsidies for allowing US nuclear testing in their tropical atolls – I will go to the Caribbean instead, where I hardly need any visas, and officials respond faster to emails.
