Guadeloupe

Flew to Point-a-Pitre, economic capital of the French overseas department of Guadeloupe. Stayed at Hotel St John Perse at heart of city. Did a day trip 60km away to Basse-Terre, the capital of Guadeloupe which is squeezed between the foothills of a volcano and the Atlantic Ocean. Things are very expensive in these French territories. Can¡¯t wait to return to English-speaking Caribbean. Tomorrow, I fly to the English speaking independent Caribbean island state of Dominica (not to be confused with Dominican Republic which is Spanish-speaking).
