As Hon Treasurer of the Singapore Heritage Society, I was invited to the launch of the Royal Selangor Designer Collection 2010. As noted in the press release:
In celebration of its 125th anniversary, Royal Selangor, the world-renowned pewter brand, unveils The Designer Collection – a series of three stylish pewter pendants inspired by Singapore's rich heritage and culture.
A brand known for its heritage of fine craftsmanship, Royal Selangor continues to be relevant to the modern day consumer with innovative and functional designs. As part of its 125th anniversary celebrations, Royal Selangor has invited three of Singapore's influential creative thinkers and cultural champions - Eunice Olsen, David Tay and Dick Lee – to interpret their own visions of what it is to be Singaporean. The designs in this stunning pewter collection are based on the theme 'Learn from the past, live in the present and dream of the future'.
The Designer Collection is made in limited quantities of a thousand pieces per design. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the sales of the pendants will benefit the Singapore Heritage Society, a registered charity which promotes active interest in the cultural life and history of Singapore, and initiates action on research, documentation, publication, collection, display as well as preservation and restoration of skills and items of historical interest.
