Upon arrival in Sittwe, I hired a boat on a 7 hour journey along the picturesque Keladan River to Mrauk U, capital of the ancient Kingdom of Arakan, also one of Myanmar's little known archaeological sites. I kind of half regret the moment I got onto the boat. I hardly knew the people that sailed the boat - they could have robbed and killed me in these remote parts and no one would know. |
